If Senate Bill 711 (SB 711) also known as the North Carolina Compassionate Care Act passes then the bill would exempt North Carolina Medical Cannabis cardholders from arrest, prosecution, or penalty for the possession or purchase of an adequate supply of cannabis for medical use.

Patients would be required to carry their identification card issued by the state of North Carolina that allows them to use and possess medical marijuana for medicinal purposes anytime they are carrying cannabis or cannabis-infused products.

The bill would also allow for patients to possess up to a 30-day supply of cannabis as determined by their physician.
